... I feel a little bad about remembering Snape's birthday, actually, in the sense that I never forget his, but I have the greatest trouble to remember the birthdays of real people. 😶

I always look forward to your Snapemas gifts to us all, and I confess I also have an obsession with Flying Snape. I am convinced he did not learn it from Voldie; Voldie learned it from him. Or else Snape provided Voldie with a jar of his own private, custom-developed, non-poisonous, entirely reliable (as long as you get the dosage right) Flying Ointment.

I have long harbored a yen to make a drawing of Flying Snape modeled on the classic Superman-rescuing-Lois pose, but I’m not sure who he should be rescuing. Lily doesn’t deserve it (she’d probably be bitching the whole time), and I’ve out-grown my Snanger period so I can’t think Hermione is right. Harry is really the obvious choice. He does enough stupid, reckless, impulsive things to fill a year’s worth of Lois Lane comics and another year of Jimmy Olson, and Severus is his officially assigned rescuer, but I’m afraid the image would have too much of a Snarry vibe for me to tolerate.

Didn’t you do a drawing like that once with one of your Original Characters? Or am I thinking of someone else? I’m older than our Sev and don’t have magical longevity, so my memory is not what it was.

I agree with you 100% about Snape not learning flying from Voldemort. I think it would be most uncharacteristic for Voldie to teach him such a thing - and very characteristic for Snape to figure it out by himself. I also fully embrace the notion of Snape flying by himself, but making Voldie do it with a magical ointment - for me, 'true' flight belongs to Snape and Lily. He'd seen it done, and very early on in his life too, so he knew it was at least possible. Voldie - meh. I guess it doesn't help that I don't find him particularly interesting XD.
