I disappeared. Sorry about that. I just had to take a break from the comic to do other stuff - such as finally make that birthday present for my friend who had his birthday in April, and work on a dollie that was still faceless and one that was still naked. And I felt like doing some knitting. Also I reread Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, because I saw the DVD was out and I wanted to reread the book before watching the television series.

Since I will be going back to art school next week, and if my teacher sticks to his conclusion of a few months ago, that will mean I will have to produce an old AND a new page every week, I thought I had to take some time for the other stuff while I still could.

Naked Dollie is still unfinished (I'm working without a pattern! it's terrifying! I need to take breaks to gather my courage!), but Faceless Dollie has a face now. Meet Reinette. She has nothing whatsoever to do with Gawain and co. But I adore her anyway.

Today is Oscar Wilde's birthday!



And guess what: today, a film based on Wilde's fairytale The Selfish Giant wins the Ghent Film Fest.

Also on Wilde's birthday, for the doll fans among us: the pre-orders for these brand-new Irish Fairy BJDs starts.



That can't be a coincidence. Oscar's star is shining bright! ;)

I rarely post pictures of my dolls anymore because I know 99.9% of you really don't care for/about them, though I may bother you with them some more as their medieval look starts coming together...

We haven't reached that stage yet (far from it!), but occasionally I experience the perverse need to show you the depth of my doll-depravity. Read: reveal the size my crew has taken on in as little as ... two years and two months.

I'm, er, beginning to understand why chainmail used to cost an arm and a leg (and still does cost an arm and a leg, for those among us who are into chainmail-wearing cosplay). It's such a pain to make! D:

The things I do to make my Gawain look more authentic... :p Because, yes, it's a pain to make, but it's going to look very nice! I love the two square centimeters of chainmail that I have produced so far. *grins*

...What can I say, I'm Irish by sympathy ;).

Complaining dollies interrupt my drawing session. But they'll have to wait till I'm done. *pets them*

Whoops, I've been quiet... I'm working on commissions (proposals to be scanned & sent) + fest entries (Top Secret) and not on the comic so much (though some progress has been made with the script, yay!), and I'm also trying to fashion a dress for Morgana. The latter enterprise is arguably the least successful of the lot :( - for a n00b seamstress like myself, making a dress for a lady with resin boobs (of considerable size) is not a walk in the park. Dear me! So for the time being, she's mostly wearing yards of fabric with pins in it :/.

Autumn is really setting in now. We have lots of dead leaves in our small garden. They made me think of Morgana and her 'touch of death' (which you'll see in action soon). I took a few pictures of her with dead nature.





I know I'm a bit doll-obsessed these days, but it's just so much fun to have your characters sitting around in mini versions and to be able to create a 'real' look for them XD.
