Chainmail

I'm, er, beginning to understand why chainmail used to cost an arm and a leg (and still does cost an arm and a leg, for those among us who are into chainmail-wearing cosplay). It's such a pain to make! D:

The things I do to make my Gawain look more authentic... :p Because, yes, it's a pain to make, but it's going to look very nice! I love the two square centimeters of chainmail that I have produced so far. *grins*

*smiles* I can imagine! How are you making it, and from what material?

I'm not exactly sure what the material is, but I'm using little jewellery rings. I open and close them with pliers for jewellery-making. It's a pretty labour-intensive process XD. I can't imagine having to do this for an adult human being!

It's getting easier now, but the first two rows gave me trouble just to figure out the chainmail pattern :p.

But you don't have to make the rings first, that is a huge advantage, I suppose. ;o) I once watched a chainmail maker at a medieval fair - one certainly needs patience and the ability not to be easily bored for this! *g*
