Art: So Tired x3 (G)
Thursday, 3 May 2007 07:16 pm
I was catching up on the last three chapters of
But - the story's depiction of Snape inspired me to do pictures, three slight variations on one theme, and I lay them at
All rated G, and no warnings.
(I'm not so happy with this one, but I do like the dark washes. It's not bad, perhaps, but it's not what I wanted it to be.)
(I like this one better. I would, wouldn't I, as it's monochrome... :P It was painted right after the first one and without any pencil sketch. I'm happy with the brushwork.)
(Playing with my new toys: a Koh-i-Noor art set. The result is my first ever charcoal picture :-). This is charcoal + black pencil + progresso pencil. It was purely done for the lines around the eyes, actually...)

Date: Friday, 4 May 2007 09:15 am (UTC)I adore drawing with brushes, but I had to do the more conventional first picture first in order to know how to make the second work. According to the rules of Japanese painting, that shouldn't be necessary. I obviously don't meditate enough! :D

Date: Friday, 4 May 2007 09:33 am (UTC)Glad you like the pictures! It's funny - I thought the first one a failure at first, but then it dried up and the colours in the face became paler, and I thought it wasn't too bad after all :D. I guess I just miss some of the sharpness that I like to associate with Snape, and I will always like stark lines better than outlines defined by colour. That's a very personal preference. I'll keep yours in mind for your picture :).

*puppy eyes*

Merci beaucoup! *grins*

To even know that you have read and liked my story makes me all kinds of aw-shucks-blushy-happy-nervous [you may want to take back that "brilliant" once you've read the end *g*], but to have had any part in inspiring you to make Snape art... words fail me, so I'll just... :-D SQUEEEE!!!! :-D
Ahem.
These are gorgeous Sigune. I'll be more articulate later, but for now just let me bow reverently back at you and say you've actually made me cry--in a happy way of course! May I beg scans of these to print out for my own viewing pleasure?
And now I swear I will stop peeking at LJ and get busy preparing final chapters to send off to betano subject
Date: Friday, 4 May 2007 09:58 am (UTC)Um, yes, scans. I have them at 200 ppi, but maybe I should make some 300 ppi if you want to print them. I'll take care of it :).

Date: Friday, 4 May 2007 12:06 pm (UTC)This fan of Fleagle must read the latest chapter as soon as she gets the chance. I agree with sigune. The story is indeed brilliant. But, since I am not an artist, I can only send virtual Huntsman cheese. :-D
Lovely work, sigune. I love all three. I think any watercolours or pen and ink drawings similar to these would be perfect for Sectus. Your first charcoal sketch turned out very well. All I've ever been able to do with charcoal is make a mess all over my hands and clothes. :-)

Date: Friday, 4 May 2007 12:59 pm (UTC)Sectus. Yes, I thought I might go for paint instead of ink after all (there's something so very enjoyable about working with brushes and water) - though being who I am, I may still change my mind *g*.
No, Occlumency doesn't notify of updates. I was three chapters behind! Reading them one after the other made me realise that I must re-read the whole story when it is ready, after my HI marathon :D...
Impressive
Date: Friday, 4 May 2007 09:31 am (UTC)Just... wow.
I have no patience or knowledge for fics, but pics all the more.
The second one is a stunning piece of your amateur professionalism.
Great stuff!
Be seeing you
Re: Impressive
Date: Friday, 4 May 2007 09:43 am (UTC)Thank you!
I have to admit I'm a little bit proud of the second one - it's a bit like a better version of this one (http://pics.livejournal.com/sigune/pic/000423zx/g1) because it was better thought out. This is almost sumi-e, the art of Japanese painting that I find incredibly beautiful and intend to pursue further...
(That reminds me I still haven't shown you the painting I bought in China - it's that style too, though with two colours, and it's smooch-worthy.)
I'll see you next week, then...?

Date: Friday, 4 May 2007 09:59 am (UTC)Keep those fingers crossed for later today yeah?
We'll see whether we'll be broke yet richer 1 house, or just
disappointed for the nth time.
I'd put money on option two, but weirder things've happened.
be seeing you
