In november last, Cecilia (a. k. a. Cabepfir at dA) sent me an announcement for a King Arthur Contest at deviantART. The deadline is 31 January.
I can't very well let this pass without submitting anything, can I? My idea was to send in a picture of Gawain and Ragnell ("the Loathly Lady"). Yesterday I finished my umpteenth sketch of the odd couple. A few issues have been overcome, but I'm still not happy with the image. My main problems are with the figure of Gawain. I want him to be 1) leggier (*g*) and 2) more graceful. I never seem to be able to convey motion/energy. I have to work so hard on getting things to look more or less correct that I don't seem to have any room left (so to speak) to add some grace as well.
Bleh.
I got myself a book teaching anatomy for animators - "Force" by Mike Mattesi - in the hopes of developing my skills. The only thing that fails is the time to go through it and exercise ;-). In any case: I need to do a new sketch (once more).
I'm posting by e-mail again, so the sketches will have to go up later :).
