So, those Inktobers :P - Gawain edition

I drew this Morgause with little Mordred on Day 5, but was really unhappy with her.



I don't know what it is - Morgause is just difficult? :/

Fortunately on Day 12 I managed a really cute young Gawain. I felt a bit foolish for wanting to draw him playing the flute, because it's tricky to get the hands right - I needed reference for that. But I'm really pleased with the result.



Finally, because my Morgause picture convinced me that I'm useless at drawing women, I attempted a Morgana on Day 14. Morgana nearly always works for me, which is just great. I love Morgana :).

What doesn't convince you in Morgause? Perhaps she had another expression/should convey another attitude in your mind?

I saw Gawain on dA. Love jumping Morgana with birds <3

Morgause - it's hard to explain. I guess she lacks elegance? She's a bit lifeless and there's just ... I dunno, nothing to be pleased about in this drawing? You see, my Gawain is sitting still, but there is a kind of fluidity to the drawing, and - I dunno. And Morgana is somehow in mid-jump which makes no sense at all but she looks great to me. Maybe I should have thought of a less stationary pose for Morgause.

Also, whenever I try to draw Morgause I feel like I fail spectacularly at drawing women. And Morgause is supposed to be a very beautiful, attractive woman - certainly more beautiful than Morgana, who is quirkier (and therefore easier to draw :p). I'm not sure why this happens, because I don't have the same problem with Ygraine, or at least not as much as with Morgause...
