Wow. And how appropriate that he was a weaver, both in the suggestion of Spinner's End being part of a northern mill town and in the sense that Snape himself was also quite a good weaver of tangled webs. :-)
On an unrelated namesake, my mother actually visited the Yorkshire village of Snape and forgot to take photos of any signs to prove it. Silly woman. :-)
