I nicked this from [livejournal.com profile] lareinenoire, just to motivate myself to do more ficcing ;)...

1. What are your fanfic writing goals for this year? Do you want to try a new ship, genre, rating or style? Tackle new characters?

I want to write my novel-length fic of DOOM! The length alone is a challenge, but I will also be writing a huge cast of characters and for the first time add an ever so teensy bit of slash :).

2. Do you have any New Year's updating resolutions?

No, I don't have 'running' fics right now, so I don't need to update anything.

3. Do you have original writing goals for the year?

Yup, in the non-fiction department, and it takes precedence over just about everything. *sigh*

4. Which of your fics are you most looking forward to getting completed? Do you want them finished before DH comes out? Do you have stories planned out that you are yet to start?

I have three projects on my hard drive that I would like to finish this year, and I guess that at least one had better be done before DH, because I don't want it to be canon-shafted twice ;).

5. Any exclusive previews/extracts/hints of things to come that you're prepared to reveal to your trusted f-list?

Oh, sure *g*.

From Art of Darkness, a. k. a. The WIP of Doom:

“Toby!” Severus ground out. For a few seconds he stayed where he was, uncertain what to do; then he jumped up and ran towards the landing. The teacup smashed to smithereens on the floor. He heard the rapid patter of Wilkes’ leather-soled shoes on the stairs, then on the tiles of the hall, and the door opened and shut again when Severus was only halfway.

He stood still in the middle of the first floor landing and breathed deeply. That was it, then. From now on, he was on his own. “Thank you for showing so much faith,” he whispered, mutinously kicking the bars of the banister. “My so-called Best Friend. You prat, Wilkes!”

Maybe it is for the best, Severus told himself. Hesitantly, he lifted his left sleeve. Ineradicably etched into the skin of his forearm was a skull that grinned at him, and the snake coming from its mouth seemed like a particularly morbid version of a stuck-out tongue, taunting him.

From an as yet untitled, absolutely silly tale that will ruin any good reputation I may have:

The inner woman and man fortified – in McGonagall’s case with a bowl of hearty oatmeal porridge; Snape intended to survive the morning on two pieces of dry toast – the Deputy Headmistress and the Potions master found themselves in Rubeus Hagrid’s cabin. A munching sound came from near the front window, under which the Monster Book of Monsters lay peacefully chewing on a pair of old boots. Fang the boarhound sat in an armchair wagging his tail, and cowered whenever Snape happened to look his way. Professor Snape disliked animals even more than people; most of them were unable to talk, which was an advantage, but they smelled and drooled and dropped waste all over the place. He had made sure to sit as far away from Fang as was possible in the small hut, although that was not strictly necessary: he exuded hostility of such a kind that animals, their instincts keener than most humans’, prudently kept well out of range of both his wand and pointy boots.

6. Have you learnt anything in the last year of fan fic writing that you hope to continue to make a conscious effort to improve on this year?

Er - I just want to improve on all fronts.

7. What's your current burning fanfic desire(s)? (ie - 'Oh, I really must write a story where...')

...'I recount the entire story of Snape's childhood and his early Death Eater days, because soon most of it is going to be set in stone and I want a version in which Snape doesn't love Lily and his father wasn't a creepy abusive drunk!'

8. Which updates of other people's fics are you most looking forward to?

Ah! Must be [livejournal.com profile] _grainne_'s, and once I again have time to follow more than one story, I'll look forward to a multitude of updates, yay!

9. Do you have any plot-bunnies that you don't think you'll have time to write, but would love for someone on the f-list to try? Describe the bunny here, and see if you get a volunteer...

I have very few plot bunnies, I'm afraid, so I must keep them all to myself to fill the pages of my WIPs ;P.

10. For those who also do original work, do you find that with the seventh book coming out, you're willing to put that on the backburner since you know the window of fanfic opportunity is shrinking?

Unfortunately I can't afford to do so *g*. How I wish I could give my fic priority right now :(...

11. After DH comes out, do you think you'll still be as active in the fandom? If most of the important questions have been answered, will you still write fanfic?

I find it hard to imagine that all my questions will be answered, because most of my interest goes towards secondary characters and Rowling cannot possibly supply all their stories. However, if we hear too much about Snape, I guess there won't be much left for me to tell and my interest in fandom will fizzle out.

12. If you are writing a WIP that contradicts DH once it is released, would you start writing according to the book 7 canon, or would you continue on with your original idea? Would you amend any previous fics if assumptions made have been proved false?

That's a difficult question. If the changes are fundamental, I won't make them (just like I didn't substitute 'Eileen' for 'Septimia' after HBP). If they are minor things, I guess I will. As for the WIP of Doom, I doubt I will have the courage to start all over again.

13. If your favourite character(s) dies, will you take it like a man/woman, cry like a baby, or dedicate your life to AU fics where the deed doesn't happen at all?

Cry like a baby, definitely. It's embarrassing but true.
Please, Ms Rowling, don't cause me to make a fool of myself! Just let Snape live! *Bambi eyes*

14. After the seventh book is released, will you focus on "after the war" style fics, or "before the war" (eg: Harry still in school)?

I'm not sure. I have one of each in the works.

15. If you stay active in fandom post book 7, will you continue to focus your stories on canon characters, or do you think you will be more willing to venture into the realm of original characters?

I'm in this fandom for the canon characters, but I have always enjoyed making them play with original ones :).

16. Have you ever had to defend the idea behind something you've written from critical reviews? Has it impacted on any future projects?

Not really... Well, I've been flamed, but it hasn't made me change my ways.

17. Will you consider doing NaNoWriMo this year?

Not ever, thank you :).
