I don't know whether this is surprising or not, but I feel just the same about my characters, especially Severus and Brynhild :-). They tend to do things that have been 'educated out' of me - they have hardly any inhibitions or pangs of conscience. I really wouldn't want to meet, let alone be, anyone like that; but writing/reading them is a different matter entirely. One of the first things that attracted me in the fictional character of Snape is that he is all-powerful inside his classroom and can reduce his students to snivelling heaps of misery. When I stood in front of a rowdy class they drove *me* to despair, and I have to confess that I wished it was the other way around :-P. I think I am a bundle of repressed wickedness (LOL).
