Scenario stuff
Saturday, 12 February 2011 10:32 pmWhew.
I think I've got the outline of Brothers and Sisters* fixed. It's not a scenario, exactly, but a (sometimes elaborate) summary and sequence of all the elements I need to deal with to kick off Gawain's story proper. Once that episode is dealt with, the storytelling should get easier for me, because we'll be in medieval romance territory. There I will be able to do that thing with which I feel most comfortable: embroider upon canon :).
It is vital that all my pieces are set before I start to tackle Malory, Chrétien, Wolfram and a handful of anonymous poets. Setting those pieces has taken me a lot of time because I have to follow Gawain for some eight years and keep that reasonably short. Lots of characters have to be introduced at the right time (Arthur! Gwenhwyfar! Cai! Pellinore! Owain! Agravain! Gaheris! Gareth! Mordred!) and a heap of things are happening. This chapter has been one tough bugger to plot. The next task is to draw the layouts and make all the miniature episodes fit together with some fluency. *bites fingernails*
But hey: I have a starting point. That has been lacking until now, which is the one and only reason why I haven't been able to start on the layout sketches.
Again: whew.
*That's the continuation of the very first part I posted - where Lot takes Gawain to Morgana. The list of episodes is here.
