Sometimes I curse myself because I don't draw more quickly. I still haven't got far beyond page 1 of TDH. The second page has been pencilled and I was supposed to start inking it today - but I won't be doing that after all. You see, my sloth has a positive side too: it has prevented me from drawing a lot of pages the wrong way -_-.
It's all due to a misunderstanding. I didn't get the thing with live area and bleed area and that sort of thing, and have been treating the bleed area as the live area. It's mostly due to my own incredulity: having been used to drawing on A4 paper and having been told my art was "small", I couldn't believe my eyes when the live area of an A3 page turned out to be only marginally larger than an A4 surface. That couldn't be right. So I ended up using the bleed area as live area. But because I don't trust myself, I went over to Ka-Blam again and checked the manga template again. Turns out the live area of an A3 page *really* is only marginally larger than an A4 page. Go me!
So I guess I'd better do the page 2 pencils all over again. Too much would be cut off if I stick to the original pencils. As for page 1, that will, I guess, have a whole lot of unintentional bleeds -_-.
I don't know why I'm not happier about the fact that the live area is smaller than I thought. After all, I draw better when drawing small. But I guess I was getting used to the larger format, and kind of happy to be able to use my brush pen.
Ah well. Let's hope that now that the page turns out to be smaller, I will work more quickly :P.
