Gawain comic: The Darkest Hour, 19-21
Saturday, 30 May 2009 07:32 pm- Geoffrey of Monmouth, The History of the Kings of Britain (ca. 1136)

So! As of last week, the story's important actors are all in place. We are getting to the core of the tale. It's not a particularly nice one. I'm having a great time drawing it, though.
The part previously known as the Prologue stretched over 27 pages. I think this story is going to be longer than that... I supposed I'm sort of concerned about the comparative proportions, but 1) there's going to be LOTS and LOTS more Gawain in the comic's future, and 2) it wouldn't do not to tell Ygraine's story properly just because the introduction of my hero took 'only' 27 pages. I'll worry about the number of pages later ;-).
So here is the next instalment of The Darkest Hour - getting darker indeed.
As always, concrit is most appreciated.
What went before:
Ygraine has caught King Uther's attention - and how. With apparent disregard for her married state, the King showers her with gifts. Can Ygraine hold him off? And what will Gorlois say when he finally notices what is happening?
The Darkest Hour 1-3
The Darkest Hour 4-6
The Darkest Hour 7-9
The Darkest Hour 10-12
The Darkest Hour 13-15
The Darkest Hour 16-18
( In which Ygraine's adventure at court turns sour... )
