Gawain Project: Brothers & Sisters, p. 108

I stumble through life like a zombie at the moment. I'm so tired that I'm beginning to wonder if I have a vitamin deficit. I fully intend to sleep so much this weekend that it will be almost ridiculous - but I am absolutely willing to brave that ridicule if it means I'll start next week well-rested and energetic.

To alleviate my guilt about not having produced anything useful lately, I picked up my script and rewrote the Arthur episode (debuting next week) for the umpteenth time. It is now the best I can make it, though probably, sadly, not as smashing as I would have liked, but I really need to stop working on that same scene and start figuring out what comes next. I mean, I know what comes next, but if the writing is as, um, fluent as the Arthur scene's, I'm going to find myself running out of pages soon. But I don't think I need to anticipate serious trouble. Not when Morgana and Lot are involved :).

Anyway-
Next week: Arthur.
Today: Gawain.

****

Morgana's somewhat questionable and extremely hands-on approach to teaching has revealed that Gawain has powers of healing. He does not really know how they work, though, and as he is a curious little fellow, he is determined to find out...

You know I like when guys cut their hands? When I was little, I watched a movie in which two boys cut their hands and held them together to mix their blood and become 'brothers'. I've always been fascinated by that practice. Well, it's not what's happening here, but it reminded me about it.

The best version of that in my book is Iago and Othello in Oliver Parker's film - because it's so ... utterly wrong of Iago to propose blood brotherhood to Othello. Second I think of Winnetou and Old Shatterhand, for some reason.

Sadly, no blood brotherhood here... Just 'ordinary' brotherhood ;). And my attempt to show the limits of Gawain's magic.

I know, it was just a mental connection...

I don't remember that scene from Othello; I'll have to re-watch it!

(By the way, I love your icon! That medieval lady was in a book I ravaged when I was at my high school, because it had all the most gorgeous illustrations of fashion from the past. I even copied that costume in my sketchbook. ;)
