Art: That Snape Boy (G) - not really spoilerish, I think.
Here is my first piece of post-DH fanart.
I was at Sectus last week, in the company of
_vocalion_ who, as some of you already know, is a darling. She made me a present of a rather elaborate set of graphite pencils (yay!) and several charcoal pencils (more yay!). I sort of took that as a hint ;P, and drew the first picture I had set my mind on while reading Deathly Hallows. It is dedicated to
_vocalion_, with sincere thanks for the present, for a wonderful week, and for her comfort during DH-related crises.
The title is taken from DH, but I doubt the picture will spoil the book for anyone :-).

I felt like trying out the charcoal pencils first, and used a piece of yellowed scrap paper to draw on; somehow that seemed fitting for a slightly grubby young Snape. For future projects I should get myself some coloured paper with a nice texture - just about all of my drawing paper is white, and that is obviously not suitable to any picture I want to highten with white :-). Squee! I rather love this new medium; the pencils are charcoal, but rather smooth, which suits me very well :D.

Thanks very much! I am very busy with RL work now, but when the worst of that is over, I would like to write a Snape version of DH, with pictures. We'll see :-).

So we finally met at last...! (After about 4 years...LOL)
You know I had quite a bit of trouble imagining the "smock" type shirt he wears. He certainly looks sufficiently scruffy in your pic. :D
I haven't tried to draw Snape since that little art lesson. Heh, maybe I should...

You will have gathered from my previous post that I am not exactly over the moon with DH, but it does seem to rather inspire me picture-wise. There are a lot of lovely images in it.
Must learn how to draw does, though :P.

Another interesting Snape!

I actually love this kind of shirt, but I have no trouble imagining that a boy would be terribly embarrassed wearing one...

(I love all your art! *hugs*)

So, do you think it was simply poverty or confusion about how muggles dress that lead to his childhood wardrobe?

Poor boy. Lily, James and Sirius were so pampered.

Your lovely picture just makes me want to hug him. ♥ (Not that he'd like that. :P)

Oh, how I wish those parallels had been more highlighted... A confrontation between Harry and a Snape capable of speech... Anything... Or the parallels between Snape and Dumbledore...
Okay, I'll go ficcing now.no subject
LOL!
But you really should go ficcing! Snape needs us now more than ever! I already have 2000 words of my Harry & Snape gen AU of DH. :) Of course, everyone else probably has the same AU idea as me... :P
I'm glad he's still around in your art at least. :)

I love it, I like the resentful look in his eyes, you can just tell this little one has had a bad time. I liked your thoughts in DH too- well put thanks!

Poor Snape; his misery tends to make good pictures :/...

I love his bitter expression, and I'm honored to be the first recipient of one of your post DH drawings.
Thank you, sigune!
*hugs*
PS: Don't forget our little chat with Steve. ;-)

You are flattering me awfully - but you see that the gift is doing its job: two pictures in a few days, and me with no stomach for my urgent rl work because I want to draw more ;P... Must. Forget. DH. From. August 1st. *irons hands*

Glad you like the picture! I am not entirely sure that this is the kind of shirt that JKR had in mind when she described it as a smock, but I hope I'm close enough ;-).

I'm so glad Vocalion gave you those pencils!
*misses you both*

Alas, poor Snape. As I said above, his misadventures, though ( - because?) sad, are strangely inspiring.

The expression comes naturally to him, I'm afraid. There is nothing more difficult to imagine than a cheerful Snape... ;-)

As usual- you've done a brilliant job on the highlights as well.

I just watched another JKR interview yesterday, and a different impression of Snape came out of it. Only saw partial transcripts of an earlier one. Have you started a re-read?

It's a funny thing with DH; although I didn't like the book, I do find it very inspiring in terms of drawing (and someday, hopefully, fic). That is probably why I still remain coherent despite my strong feeling of disappointment :D. DH is not a good novel, but it's great ficcing/art material *g*.
I'm trying to catch up on my e-mail, but I'm not making much progress - I'm very sorry for the delay. I'll reply soon!
