It depends. When they have a well-built body, as Gawain is supposed to have, as a warrior, I would say that they make a pleasing sight... Just think of a few statues, paintings, photos and real people who come to my mind right now ;) On the other hand, as a knight Gawain would probably wear an armour... Do you have the materials to craft one? (I'm asking this in earnest.)
Well, in a first stage I'll already be happy if I can just make him normal Irish clothes. Sixth-century Irishmen didn't wear much armour and I can make do with a (fake) leather jacket and some arm protection. I would really like to have some chainmail, though. There are people on the doll forum who craft things like collars and hoods in chainmail, but a hauberk, for example, would get really expensive. I don't know if I'd be able to make it myself... There are companies where you can buy large amounts of little rings... Plated armour is out of the question in any case, and it would be wrong in view of my timeline. I know of at least one person who is crafting plated armour for her doll, though :D
I'm working on it... I'm fabricating a tunic for Gawain as we speak, and I finished his breeches yesterday. The two boys are going to a doll meeting with me on Saturday, so Gawain has priority because he doesn't have a clothes set yet. Gwalchmei/Little Gawain can always wear his existing outfit. Morgana isn't coming along because I'm afraid of breaking her fingers in transport, so she'll have to wait longest... (I need to build my exam website first, so I can't work on the clothes continuously...)
