Gawain Project: The Darkest Hour 115-119 (Epilogue)
auf der plaine und im forêt
und überall, wo Klingsor herrscht:
>Heute traurig, morgen froh<.
Weder Feigheit noch Courage
können daran etwas ändern...
Vielleicht ist Euch das unbekannt:
ein reines Wunder ist dies Land!"
- Wolfram von Eschenbach, Parzival (ca. 1200-1216)

It's the ennnnnnnnnnnnddd!
Well, the end of the first story arc. In the next, my hero actually has a part. He'll be born and everything - heck, he even walks and talks and meets Morgana! Long-time readers have already seen that part. I'll pick up again from there. But I'll post a master list first :).
I'm a bit worn out so I'll keep these notes short.
Please, please let me know what you think now that you have made it to the end of The Darkest Hour. Constructive criticism is welcome, as always, especially because the next step for this story is to write and draw the definitive version.
What went before
Lots of awful things have happened to Ygraine, all at the hands of Uther Pendragon, High King of Britain. So far, he hasn't had his comeuppance yet. BUT, as we have seen in the Prologue, Ygraine has now summoned a sorcerer, the mysterious Klingsor. Would you like to know why? All you have to do is read the Epilogue ... and keep following the Gawain Project, of course :P.

I'm so happy you enjoyed the story! Thank you so very much for your continued support - drawing and writing this is very satisfying, but if nobody reacts, you do start to doubt yourself :). Your comments have been truly invaluable to me throughout.

I have really enjoyed this, and I'm looking forward to getting back to Gawain himself next. :-)

I'm very glad you enjoyed it, and grateful for your comments :). For the return to Gawain, pressure is on - the next part is the most difficult of all. I hope you want to keep a critical eye on things *g*...

Love the ending and so looking forward to more! I even just felt a stab of pity for Uther.

Uther... It's funny - when I started on this story, I didn't expect him to turn into the character he eventually became. He was pretty much 'the villain'. But then he somehow turned out human :). So, yes, I feel some pity for him too. And I like him too much as a character to kill him off XD. Not that that would have happened in TDH, exactly, but... Well, let's say I have been doing my best to find a purpose for him further on *g*.
I'm kind of pleased to read that you didn't immediately see what I did on the first page. It wasn't planned. I wanted a close-up of Ygraine's eyes in the first panel and one of her mouth in the third. Then I thought that I might as well draw her entire face and split it into panels. So I'm happy that the panels work individually :).

*applauds wildly* (and approvingly notes ending the way one began, sort of ;-)
I am just so in awe of your talents, as both writer and artist, and what makes you so special is that you aren't content with what you have/can do and are always experimenting, trying new things, and welcoming feedback. Well, here is mine: this is an amazing accomplishment and I can't wait to read what comes next!

Thank you so much for commenting, too! *hugs some more*
I'm really not a very good artist at all, but the one thing about which I am confident is that I know how to tell a story in pictures. I just have to hope that the things I can do well (expressions, characterisation) help readers to forgive me all the things I cannot do well (setting, architecture, cool perspectives etc.). At the same time, I try to keep improving. There is so much to learn, and I find that people on LJ, dA and Blogger give me very valuable advice. That's the great thing about the Internet :).
I have a very good feeling about this story. I know where I am going and what I want to show, and the story and characters grow while I am writing/drawing. It's a huge project, though. I'm insane. But whenever I'm working on this, I feel great :D.
I'm very glad you enjoyed TDH. If you and Valis and Daisy and Karina say it's okay, then I know I'm not deluded :).

I so love the graphics of this panel - the "face parts" fitting together while being separate images is brilliant!
The conclusion to this part is great, and that last image not only perfect for the end, but also awesomely working as an image, telling so many unspoken things.
This was really a great ride! Now I'm eager to read on. Lucky me that there is again so much loveliness waiting for me.

This part of the story is about four years old now, and I'm beginning to be bugged by the way I drew these sketches. But that last panel definitely still stands, and I'm worried that I may not be able to reproduce it quite this way. I love it... It makes me feel bad for Uther, though I really shouldn't :p.
Gosh. I need to start drawing definitive pages, don't I.
In the next part, you're going to meet my hero! Granted, he'll be only seven years old, but - he's the hero. I hope you will like him too :).
