Well, as far as French goes, I'm not sure that what I learn from this series is at all useful in polite conversation ;-)... I also find that the subtitles (French for the hearing-impaired) aren't very helpful - the dialogues are typically wordy and consequently the subtitlers have to condense everything, often using different (short) expressions. It takes some adapting to the rapid patter of French comedy.
